I’m just back from a fantastic event, hosted by the Civil Service College, Cayman Islands Government where I spoke about the opportunity for AI in the Public Sector. I presented to 300 very inquisitive Senior Leaders in the Cayman Islands Civil Service, and the questions that were asked after my keynote, as well as in the interactive workshop showed me that the topic of AI in the public sector is very timely.

Events such as this don’t happen on their own, Monique Malcolm and the team at the Civil Service College looked after me and fellow speaker Lisa Walden so well both before and during the event.

At the speaker dinner the night before, I had the privilege of meeting Deputy Governor Franz Manderson, Gloria McField, Chief Officer at Portfolio of the Civil Service and Sheree Martin, Learning and Development Officer who brilliantly hosted the event.

The theme of the event was “Learning Through Technological Change”, and the combination of my keynote, with Lisa Walden’s talk titled “The Future is Human: Creating People-First Work Cultures” set the tone perfectly and allowed the audience to become more digitally curious.

As always, I left the audience with 5 Actionable things to do this week following my talk, and I also used Otter.ai to summarise the talk and shared this with the delegates via a QR code developed for this event.

At lunch on the day of the event, I also was delighted to be able to meet with Cayman Islands Governor Her Excellency Jane Owen, and we had a fascinating discussion about technology over lunch.

A huge thank-you also to Jo Bond Senior Learning and Development Coordinator at the Civil Service College who made the event run so smoothly, Elif Stewart at Speaker Agency who suggested me in the first place, and Michael Levey and the team at Speaking Office who pulled everything together.

I’m keen to share my insights and experience with AI in the Public Sector with other Governments, and I’ve squeezed the 60-minute keynote into just 4 minutes above. If this piqued your interest in having me come to your event to talk about AI in the public or private sectors, then please do get in touch.
