A question I’m asked all the time is “Will AI take my job?” The short answer is, it’s up to you. I don’t think AI will take your job. I think someone who knows how to use AI will take your job.

Just as when you start a new role, you’re not taught how to use email, Word or PowerPoint, people assume you already know how to use these tools.

Going forward, if you’re not up to speed with how to use the latest generative AI tools and techniques to get your job done and be more efficient, then you’re going to be left behind.

While some industries will be impacted by generative AI, if you stay digitally curious, if you start playing with these tools now and asking questions of others in your organisation to see how they’re using these tools, you’ll stay ahead, and you’ll probably keep your job in the age of AI.

I cover this topic under the “Curious about AI …” section of my upcoming book “Digitally Curious” where I investigate the impact of AI in the workplace.
