Andrew presented the opening keynote “Thinking Big with Digital and Social”, setting the scene around the opportunity for social and digital for healthcare at the 2nd annual Mayo Clinic Social Media summit in Melbourne, Australia.
Drawing upon Andrew’s extensive international experience working with organisations of all sizes, he inspired the Summit audience to think beyond the current use cases for social, and challenged the audience’s thinking about what social and digital can deliver practitioners and patients to provide a better healthcare experience.
For the past decade, Mayo Clinic has been a leader among healthcare providers in using social media, and in 2010 we established our Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media (MCCSM) to help spread this social media revolution. We have run conferences and workshops across the United States to help healthcare professionals and marketing staff learn to use these tools not only to promote their organisations, but to improve healthcare.
As the Centre’s influence on social media has grown and we have developed partnerships with organizations and individuals around the world we have realised there are many others who are also looking to learn and share their experiences of using social media in healthcare. In 2015, we brought the first international Healthcare and Social Media Summit to Brisbane with the help of our Australian External Advisory Board members. The event was a resounding success and we had many people ask if we would run a similar event again in 2016.
We are pleased that the second Healthcare and Social Media Summit will be held on 15-16 November 2016 at Melbourne’s Sofitel Hotel. We invite you to share our vision to excite, educate and demonstrate the power of social media to healthcare providers and patients in Australia. Whether you work or are treated in the public system, the private system or both, if you are interested in the power of social media in healthcare, this Summit is for you.
