The Hon. Dr Brendan Nelson AO. Brendan delivered an outstanding address on Wednesday 30th April 2025 at the In and Out Club in London at a Britain-Australia Society lecture.
He spoke about Australian national identity, using personal stories and military history to illustrate the values of courage, sacrifice, and mateship. You can watch a full replay below.
The talk also examined key moments from World War I and II through specific artefacts and individual soldiers’ experiences at the Australian War Memorial, and emphasised that Australia’s true character is defined not by documents, but by the selfless actions and profound love demonstrated by its servicemen and women.
Brendan Nelson AO is an Australian business leader, physician and former politician. He served as the federal Leader of the Opposition from 2007 to 2008, going on to serve as Australia’s senior diplomat to the European Union and NATO. He currently serves in a global leadership role with Boeing.
